Specialist engineering company Subsea 7 were announced as the successful bidders for Dana Petroleum’s lucrative Western Isles development project, based in the North Sea and worth an estimated $300 million.
The engineering and construction services company specialises in seabed-to-surface engineering and will be implementing and managing the engineering, procurement, installation and commissioning (EPIC) on the Dana project. The project involves the installation of two 2.5km long pipeline bundles and an 11km long gas export pipeline.
When the project, which will see the development of two new oil fields, received the green light back in December, it was quickly hailed as a step forward in the government’s plan to generate new jobs and investment within oil and gas production. The oil fields, known as Harris and Barra, are expected to produce the equivalent of 45 million barrels of recoverable oil reserves.
